1888 : Knute Rockne was born 4th of March 1888 in Voss, Norway. 1893 : Emigrated at the age of 5 with his family to Chicago, USA. 1907 : Worked at postal service for about 4 years starting at the age of 18.
1910 : Began studying at Notre Dame University. 1911 : Started his playing career for Notre Dame and played for 3 years. 1912 : Knute´s father, Lars dies. 1913 : Army - Notre Dame 13-35. 1914 : Graduated from the university on June 15th. 1914 : Marries Bonnie Skiles on July 15th. ???? : Got 4 children; Bill, Knute Jr., Mary Jean and Jack. 1914 : Became assistant coach for ND and was so for 4 years. 1914 : Introduced "the shift" and "the forward pass" into the game. 1916 : Became track coach and was so until 1926. 1916 : Introduced George Gipp to football. 1918 : Became head football coach for ND and was so until time of death. 1918 : Became athletic director for ND and was so until time of death. 1920 : George Gipp dies just 24 years old on December 14th. 1922 : Introduced the Four Horsemen to football. 1924 : His services as a radio speaker and writer were in demand. 1925 : Knute converted to Roman Catholicism. 1925 : Notre Dame beat Stanford 27-10 in the Rose Bowl final. 1928 : Knute began his work for the Studebaker company. 1929 : Knute was stricken with thrombosis. 1931 : Studebaker Rockne Sedan Six 65 was introduced early this year.
